Ghost Stories: Director Zoya Akhtar Reveals She's Uncomfortable With Horror Films; 'Can't Sleep at Night'

Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap are all set to give us spooky vibes and to make our Happy New Year more like screamy New Year as they are releasing the much-awaited web film, Ghost Stories. SpotboyE.com got in touch with one of the directors of Ghost Stories, Zoya Akhtar where she revealed a few interesting details of the film, from Janhvi Kapoor’s character to who came up with the idea of the film, the filmmaker barred it all. While talking to Manish Batavia, she revealed that it was Karan Johar who came up with the idea where all the three jumped with excitement right as this was the genre where none of them has dabbled on it before. They decided about Ghost Stories right after they directed Lust Stories. She also revealed that she has a love-hate relationship with horror genre where she enjoys them but later, gets uncomfortable as she is unable to sleep alone.
If you are considering Ghost Stories to be a typical ghost film, sorry, these 4 maverick directors are not up for it. Zoya speaks that Ghost stories is not just about the ghost. Plus, earlier, when a video of all the four was released, talking about the film, said that the series is about things that are not really human, it is about monsters and supernaturals. Revealing Janhvi Kapoor’s character, the Zindagi Milegi Naa Dobara director said that she plays a temporary nurse who comes in for 3 days, taking over another nurse and it is about those three days with 2 women in the house. When asked about another collaboration of all the four directors, to which Akhtar said the moment Karan Johar finishes Takht then they could think about something else. Watch the interview below:
